I noticed that my last few recipes have been: round, circular or spherical shapes. Symmetrical figures without any edges. Just a reminder for the future, to be more creative and try to prepare other forms of food.
This is one of the recipes when I feel like I am “cheating” because my sauce is from a jar. I did not feel that way, until one day I was “caught in action” of pouring the sauce on the pan. Other than that, the meatballs are so soft, smooth and tender. And whoever tasted them just loved it.
Preparation time: 10 minutes. Cooking time: 40 minutes.
INGREDIENTS: ~12 meatballs. (In the pictures, I increased the amounts below).
- Egg – 1 large
- Lean ground chicken or turkey – 1 pound
- Onion – 1 medium, grated
- Oatmeal (quick oats) -3 tablespoon
- Salt – pinch
- Montreal chicken spice (optional) – 1 teaspoon
- Pasta sauce – 1 large jar~700 ml
In a large bowl mix ground meat, egg, grated onion, oatmeal and salt to a uniform mixture. Pre-heat a large deep pan with the pasta sauce. Careful in here, cause the sauce tends to bubble and splash everywhere. Using an ice-scream spoon as the measurement size, form balls and immerse to the sauce. After 20 minutes, gently turn over the balls for additional 20 minutes.
The whole recipe is ~1 serving of carbs (15 grams) without the sauce.
